JDK Culinary Team Goes Green with Sustainable Foods into New Menus
May 2010: With a growing response from clients for sustainable agriculture, JDK is incorporating some new locally grown produce into 2010 summer events. JDK is working with Lancaster based Kegel’s produce to provide a mouth-watering mix of fruits and vegetables.
To kick-off this green initiative, JDK partnered with PASA (Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture) for their 2nd Annual Summer Farm Start. Donation of rental items, kitchen space, and an entire culinary team was provided by JDK to execute an event with all local producers’ seasonal offerings at the stunning Milestone Inn in Harrisburg, PA.
Open Stage of Harrisburg Honors Delaye with “Women Who Care” Award
April 2010: Jennifer Delaye, CEO of JDK, was honored with an award at the “Women Who Care” luncheon at the Felicita Resort. According to the Open Stage of Harrisburg, “the ‘Women Who Care’ award honors those who demonstrated unselfish devotion to the Greater Harrisburg community and to the arts.” Delaye joins more than 60 women who have been honored since the first induction in 2000.
Business Women’s Forum Calls upon Delaye for Morning Wake Up
April 2010: With an inspiring story, Jennifer Delaye, JDK CEO, set precedence for all women in business at the Business Women’s Forum held at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel & Convention Center in Camp Hill, PA. Delaye spoke to her audience on overcoming challenges in business and how women should seek one or two goals to overcome the workplace whirlwind. The story provided personal experiences that encouraged women to acquire the most out of their lives and set the tone for this all day enlightening event.

Event Specialist Bestows Super Bowl Party Tips
January 2010: Kim Koch, an event specialist with JDK, shared her advice to The Patriot-News on how to make the most out of a party space and the perfect snacks to keep guests entertained throughout the big game. Mayoral Inaugural Ball Incorporates Creative Cuisine
January 2010: JDK Catering had the honor of providing catering services for the Harrisburg mayoral inaugural ball. With over 500 guests in attendance, the event team at JDK incorporated cuisine from all ethnic spectrums. From an Italian station to soul food inspired hors d’ oeuvres, the menu had items to please all guests in attendance.
Catersource Magazine’s 2010 Trends Features JDK Staffing Network
January 2010: In the January issue of Catersource magazine, the focus was not only culinary trends, but also new business ideas. JDK Staffing Network was an example of how restructuring staffing, and providing a concise training program will strengthen employee morale and increase profitability for a catering operation. JDK Named Finalist for International Catering Award
December 2010: JDK was named a finalist for the 2010 Event Solutions Catering Company of the Year Spotlight Award. JDK was recognized for providing distinguished service, quality food, and well-designed presentations for their clients.
Each year, a company is selected based on excellence in the culinary field upholding to their work in on- or off-premise catering. Companies are judged on criteria that includes menu design, creativity, innovation vs. budget constraints, and customer service. JDK was selected as a finalist out of over 500 catering and event professionals.
Delaye Provides Insight on 2009 Corporate Holiday Parties
December 2010: Jennifer Delaye, CEO of JDK, provided her insight on corporate holiday events for winter 2009. She discussed the changes in parties due to the economy. Delaye described that comfort foods will make major strides in menu selection. Although value and cost will play an important factor for many businesses, she said the focus will be on camaraderie for the holiday season. Read more.

The Patriot-News Catches Up With Jennifer Delaye
October 2010: In the business feature, The Patriot-News revisited Jennifer Delaye’s twenty-two year career in the food and event service industry. Delaye provided comments regarding the changes in her company over the past decade. SIMPLY THE BEST GALA GLOWS WITH THE HELP OF JDK
October 2009: The JDK Group used their creative design talents to transform Harrisburg Magazine’s 15th Anniversary Simply the Best Gala into the party of the summer. The event titled LoungeFifteen was held at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel in Camp Hill, PA. on August 27th, 2009. Guests entered the Radisson in surprise of the event designed created, which consisted of contemporary lounge seating, illuminated acrylic cocktail tables, and illuminated centerpieces. The awards were split into two segments and attendees danced the night away on an illuminated dance floor. DELAYE PRESENTS KEYNOTE AT HACC’S 10TH ENTREPRENEURIAL STUDIES ANNIVERSARY
September 2009: President/CEO Jen Delaye was honored as the keynote speaker for (HACC) Harrisburg Area Community College’s 10th Anniversary Celebration for their entrepreneurial studies program. As a frequent guest speaker in many entrepreneurial courses, Delaye enjoys sharing her insight from 22 years of business to aspiring entrepreneurs. Kathleen Snavely, a colleague and friend of Delaye, created a clever and thoughtful introduction to the keynote. The keynote speech covered Delaye’s experience in the catering and event planning industry. Highlights of the presentation include accomplishing national recognition through the ICA (International Caterers Association), applying creativity to business strategy, and her continuous learning journey. July 2009: Essential Party Rentals was recognized for their quality, functional and productive Web site, www.essentialpartyrentals.com. The site was named runner-up in the Central Penn Business Journal’s Best of the Web Awards. An independent panel of judges evaluated nominated companies, and 45 top-ranking finalists in 15 categories were selected. Finalists were honored and the winners announced at the awards luncheon held in conjunction with the Internet Summit on Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel and Convention Center in Camp Hill, PA.
JDK LOUNGES OUT AT WHITAKER BRIDAL SHOW
July 2009: The JDK Group participated in the 3rd Annual Whitaker Center Bridal Show on Sunday, July 19th, 2009. With over 70 vendors, JDK created a trendy wedding lounge for the event, which included food, florals, rentals, and more. Visitors had the opportunity to partake in a drawing for a floral bouquet and meet with JDK’s wedding specialists.
JDK MAKES STRIDES IN THE HARRISBURG MILE
July 2009: Testing their running skills, and contributing to a cause, The JDK Group participated in the 2009 Corporate Challenge of the Millers Mutual Harrisburg Mile. JDK placed 14 out 52 teams with individual team members surpassing their personal goals. Proceeds from the event were donated to the youth and childcare programs at the Harrisburg YMCA.

JDK ENDS THREE-YEAR CONTRACT WITH FARM SHOW COMPLEX
July 1, 2007: On June 29, JDK finished its three-year term for catering and concessions at the PA State Farm Show Complex. While the contract called for an additional two one-year renewal periods, Jen Delaye decided not to renew based on partnership issues with a concessionaire vendor out of Boston.

JDK Catering, Inc. Receives Two National Awards
April 2007: JDK Catering owner and president, Jennifer Delaye, announced that her company has recently been named as one of the country’s Top 100 Diversity-Owned Businesses by Diversity.com. In addition, JDK will be featured as one of the fastest-growing companies in the Eating Places industry by the Inc. 5000 Awards Committee (Inc. Magazine).
JDK Catering Performs at Governor Rendell’s Inauguration Bash
January 2007: JDK Catering was selected to provide food and beverage services at Gov. Rendell’s inauguration. The event was attended by over 5,000 guests, including Frankie Valli and Bon Jovi as featured performers. The entire event included over 180 JDK employees, including 35 carvers, 25 bartenders, 50 professional servers, 4 chefs, 18 line cooks, and 5 bakery staff. JDK’s event planners performed many aspects of the overall design and décor for the entire evening.
Jen Delaye to be featured in National Publication!
March 2007: JDK Catering owner, Jen Delaye, will be featured in the May/June upcoming issue of Catersource magazine, a national publication directed to catering industry professionals.
JDK Announces Opening of New Party Rental Division
March 07: JDK will open a full service party rental and supply division in May 2007. ESSENTIAL Party Rentals by JDK will provide tables, chairs, dishware, glassware, specialty linens, and food service equipment. This division will also display unique items not available in this market, such as themed props and décor. For example, JDK currently owns a 10’ pirate ship and 15’ foot castle that are used as displays for many of their catering jobs. JDK also boasts over 100 different styles of linens, which will also be available to rent. The company’s future plans include rental supplies and materials for the trade show industry.

JDK Announces Fourth Straight Year of Double Digit Growth
February 07: JDK’s CFO, Drew Miller, announced that JDK posted sales of $2.8M in 2006 representing a 16% increase over 2005. Since 2003, JDK has increased sales by more than 16% each year, including a 32% increase in 2005. Company owner Jen Delaye credits the company’s success to the quality of her employees. She states “in order to execute flawlessly, you must hire and retain quality employees”. New ideas for 2007 include a full service rental company set to open in late spring 2007.
JDK’s Owner Elected to National Board
January 2007: Jennifer Delaye has been elected to the board of the International Caterers Association for a 3-year term. Mrs. Delaye worked hard to gain national exposure of JDK Catering. She looks forward to this opportunity as a chance to make a difference in the catering industry and being part of the best in the country.
JDK sends staff to National Catering Conference in Las Vegas
January 07: For the fourth straight year, JDK sent five employees to the National Catering Conference, which was hosted in Las Vegas. The conference included a trade show and five days of intense classes. Some of the largest names in the catering, event planning, and food and beverage industries attend this show each year. JDK attends this conference to unveil cutting edge and innovative food and themed ideas in the Central PA Market.

JDK “Wowed” Commerce Bank with a Stunning Grand Opening Reception
May 06: Commerce Bank employees celebrated the Grand Opening of the Commerce Center on Paxton Street on May 10, 2006. With a 120ft by 40ft tent seen clearly by drivers on I-83, JDK Catering created a breathtaking atmosphere for the 600 guests to peruse the tent and tour the new multi-floored Commerce Center. From a vibrantly colored sushi station to mouthwatering miniature desserts, from bright Commerce-Red interior and exterior tent décor to intricately designed hors d'oeuvres, JDK “Wowed” the guests and delighted the client.Download Photo Gallery
JDK Catering: We’re Moving!
May 06: JDK to move to larger facilities in Camp Hill. On May 15, JDK completed its purchase of a 16,500 sq ft facility to house its entire catering and event planning operations. Located in the borough of Camp Hill and situated along Rte 581, the new facility will offer great visibility for the various new divisions JDK plans on opening, including a party rental division and an event design division. The new facility includes over 12,000 sq ft of warehouse and kitchen space and over 4,000 sq ft of finished office space. JDK has begun renovations and plans on moving to the new location in the end of July.Download the full article
Jennifer Delaye Selected to Serve on Two Harrisburg Boards
May 06: JDK Catering owner and president, Jennifer Delaye, was appointed as a new member of the Graystone Bank’s Capital Region Board. Delaye was also honored to join the Harrisburg Regional Chamber Board of Directors to continue her service to the Harrisburg area.
